Integrity, Experience, and a Community She Calls Home

Judge Louise Hines Myers, 19th Judicial District Court Division F
Judge Louise Hines Myers Division F — 19th Judicial District Court

Judge Louise Hines Myers was born and raised in Baton Rouge, and she's spent her entire career in service to the community she calls home — first as an advocate in the courtroom, now as a fair and principled voice on the bench.

Louise earned both her undergraduate degree and her law degree from Louisiana State University, deepening her roots in the city and state she'd go on to serve. After graduating from LSU Law, she joined the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's Office, where she gained extensive trial experience handling the parish's most serious cases — including murder, gang violence, and sex crimes. That work gave her an unmatched understanding of what's at stake for real people inside a courthouse.

On the bench, she carries those lessons forward with a clear commitment to fairness, transparency, and public safety. She presides over Criminal Section 7 and Civil Section 34, giving her a broad perspective across the full range of matters that touch people's lives. Every person who appears before her deserves to be heard with dignity and judged by the law — nothing more, nothing less.

Louise also serves as the Presiding Judge of the Domestic Violence Intervention Court — a specialty court built around a holistic approach to reducing intimate partner violence in East Baton Rouge Parish. The DVIC reflects her belief that the justice system can do more than punish — it can intervene, support, and help break cycles of harm before they continue.

She also championed the procurement of Diesel, Baton Rouge's first courthouse facility dog, and pushed for the enactment of La. R.S. 15:284 — the state law that authorizes the use of certified facility dogs to comfort vulnerable witnesses while they testify in court. It's the kind of reform that puts people first without compromising the integrity of the process.

In April 2023, the voters of East Baton Rouge Parish elected her to Division F of the 19th Judicial District Court. She took the bench on May 15, 2023 — the beginning of a judgeship built on years of dedicated public service.

Outside the courthouse, she's a wife to Michael Myers and a mother of two daughters — a family that keeps her grounded in the community she serves every day.

What She Stands For

She came to the bench with a clear set of values — and she's governed by them every single day.

Public Safety

A safe community is the foundation everything else is built on. As presiding judge of the Domestic Violence Intervention Court and the driving force behind Baton Rouge's first courthouse facility dog, Diesel — and the state law that authorizes them, La. R.S. 15:284 — she's taken that commitment further than most, building systems designed to protect the most vulnerable people who walk through courthouse doors.

Fairness & Integrity

She applies the law consistently and without favor. Whether she's in criminal court, civil court, or the DVIC, every person who walks into her courtroom — regardless of their circumstances — deserves a fair hearing and an honest result.

Transparency

She believes an open, accountable judiciary is essential to public trust. Louise runs her courtroom with clarity and purpose, holding herself to the same standard she expects from those who appear before her.

Community First

East Baton Rouge Parish isn't just where she works — it's where she was born, where she was raised, and where her daughters are growing up. That investment runs deep, and the Domestic Violence Intervention Court is proof of what it looks like when a judge decides to go beyond the minimum.

The courtroom is where the law meets real lives. My job — every single day — is to make sure that meeting is fair.
